At CMIS, we continuously evolve to enhance how teams manage projects with efficiency and precision. With our latest updates, including in-app PDF editing for construction document control and guided product tours, CMIS empowers public agency teams to streamline workflows, boost collaboration, and elevate quality control processes. Say goodbye to third-party tools and welcome an all-in-one construction management experience built for you."
We’re excited to announce the release of two key updates that do just that:
In-App PDF Editing for Submittals
Editing PDFs directly in CMIS has officially landed!
We’ll admit — this one took some time to crack. Like a toy car bouncing off walls until it finds its way, we tried a few approaches before we found the right fit. But once we saw it in action, the whole team was all in.
Now, your team can mark up submittal documents right inside CMIS — no downloads, no third-party tools required. You can:
- Add comments and shapes directly onto the PDF
- Customize markup with adjustable stroke width, color, and opacity
- Tailor annotations to fit the context of your project or review process
The goal? Reduce friction, increase clarity, and keep your documentation workflows all in one place.
Submittals Product Tours
We’re also rolling out built-in product tours to help your users learn new features quickly and confidently.
When the new PDF editing tools land on your platform, users will be greeted with a brief, clickable guide that explains exactly what’s new and how to use it — in just seven clicks or less.
These walkthroughs are designed to:
- Onboard users quickly
- Reduce training time
- Minimize confusion during rollout
We’re counting on your feedback here, too. If something in the tour isn’t clear, let us know — we’ll adjust it for your team and improve it for the next release.
Built With You, For You
This release is the direct result of agency teams leaning in, asking smart questions, and pushing us to do better. We don’t pretend to have all the answers upfront. What we do promise is to listen, be transparent, and work with you to figure it out — together.
And if your team has strong voices or specific needs, we’re happy to hop on a call to listen. Whether it’s a wishlist item or a day-to-day frustration, hearing it directly helps us build tools that make your job easier.
Thanks for being great partners — let’s keep building.
